eagle790 asked:

The PUR water filter, filters the water, but the seals leak after changing one or two elements. I Wrote an email to the company, had no response. I think it is best to lay it on the block and smashit.

I replaced my Britta on faucect filter with the PUR. The PUR started leaking after replacing the first filter. Very disappointing.

These are very prone to leaks. I have had 2 leak around the clear indicator window. My second unit failed before the first cartridge expired.

Mine cracked around the filter change indicator. I called PUR and they are sending me a coupon for a replacement.

True. Several years ago, I took it upon myself to learn about water treatment, and I can now say with some authority that over 99% of people know very little or nothing about the subject.

Water treatment equipment sold in ‘big’box’ stores are geared for two types of consumers: 1. those who know little about water treatment, and 2. those who care even less.

Regarding yours, my guess is that you are too rough on it when you flip it up to the filtered position. I’ve noticed that many people also use the Pur unit as a handle when they swing their faucet from side to side, which puts stress on it.

My advice is to go with a good countertop or undercounter filter system. The cartridges last longer, and cost less per gallon to operate.

I got 4.5 years of service out of my Pur flip-up style filter. Mine started leaking not from the joint, but the valve. In other words, when I flipped it up for filtered water, water flowed out of both the tap and the Pur unit. They don’t last forever, but they should last longer than 2 cartridges.
