That&#039;s because most people have one line piped to a separate fixture for drinking, or coffee water, etc., that by passes the softener, when it&#039;s installed.  It&#039;s not that tough to do even after it&#039;s in.  Talk to a plumber or a good handyman.   I&#039;ve never heard of trying to filter out the salt to make it safe or more palatable to drink with anything.</description>
